This Privacy Policy explains what information GeoDe (“GeoDe,” “we,” or “us”) collects when you use the GeoDe mobile app and website (the “Service”), how we use it, and what choices you have. We've tried to keep this short and plain. If anything is unclear, email us at hi@geodesave.com.
1. What we collect
Location
With your permission, the app uses your device's location to find nearby deals and to send you a notification when you cross within range of a deal you might want. You can grant While Using or Always access; only Always allows geofence pings when the app is closed.
Location data used to match deals stays on your device. We do not store a continuous trail of your movements, and we do not share your location with merchants, only that a redemption happened.
Device and app data
We collect basic device information (device type, OS version, app version, language) and crash diagnostics. This data helps us fix bugs and isn't tied to your identity unless you contact support.
Account information
GeoDe currently works without an account, no name or email is required to browse and redeem deals. We're planning to introduce optional accounts soon. When that ships, creating an account will ask you for:
- Name — used to address you in the app and on emails.
- Email address — used to sign you in, recover access, and send product updates you've opted into.
- Password — stored only as a one-way salted hash. We never see or store your plaintext password, and we cannot recover it for you (we can only reset it). If you sign in with a third-party provider (e.g. Apple or Google), we don't handle a password at all, only an opaque identifier from the provider.
We use account data to authenticate you, sync your saved deals across devices, and send communications you've opted into. You will always be able to delete your account and the associated data.
Independent of accounts: if you email us for support, the address you write from is stored alongside your message so we can reply.
Bookmarks and preferences
Saved deals, notification radius, and category mutes live on your device in app storage.
2. How we use information
- To show you nearby deals and route push notifications.
- To diagnose crashes and improve app stability.
- To prevent fraud or abuse of the redemption system.
- To communicate with you about your support requests.
3. What we do not do
- We do not sell your information.
- We do not share your movements with merchants or advertisers.
- We do not run third-party advertising trackers in the app.
4. Push notifications
Notifications are opt-in. You can change the radius, mute categories, or disable notifications entirely from inside the app or in your phone's Settings. Disabling notifications does not affect the rest of the app.
5. Service providers
We rely on a small set of providers to operate the Service, including Apple App Store and Google Play (distribution and push), Amazon Web Services (hosting), and Mapbox (maps). Each provider has access only to what they need to operate their part of the system.
6. Children
GeoDe is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Your choices and rights
You can revoke location and notification permissions at any time from your device settings. To request deletion of any data tied to a support request, email hi@geodesave.com from the address you contacted us from.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product changes. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the latest version. Substantial changes will be announced in the app.
